We’re getting muddy for the Calder!
On Sunday 27th July – we will be taking on the 15k Tough Mudder challenge… that’s 15km of mud, obstacles, and mayhem – all to raise funds for The Calder Conservation Group CIC!
This amazing local group is working hard to protect and restore our rivers – tackling pollution, removing invasive species, organising litter-pick walks, and bringing our community together to reconnect with nature.

Welcome to our upcoming campaign: 28 DAYS LITTER
This May, we are blending Zombie Awareness Month (yes, it's really a thing!), with litter awareness and horror film genre.
A campaign following on from The Great British Spring Clean and celebrating the upcoming release of '28 Years Later' this June (sequel to the film series 28 days later and 28 weeks later, by director Danny Boyle).
Litter is an ongoing challenge and Keep Britain Tidy's recent report 'A rub
bish reality' indicates the situation is getting worse, with over 90% of places surveyed across England blighted by litter.
Another reality... Litter is dropped by people!
A focus on litter decomposition
We often find litter dating back decade's, scarily in tact with little to no signs of deterioration... remember our 80's crisp packet find or our 90's Mcdonalds styrofoam McChicken sandwich box?
With zombies and litter decomposition both being about rot and decay, the metaphor is scarily perfect. We have therefore adopted the tagline:
'Time doesn't rot everything'
What to expect...
28 days of litter awareness posts, combining themes of the undead,
horror film referencing and litter decomposition
Extending reach with horror genre to new audiences, through social
media, with #'s, key words and post sharing
Collaborations with other groups and the local community.
A themed Zombie Walk on 28th May, inviting the public and local
businesses to get involved (more details to follow)
There's a local twist...
Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Bradford.
An iconic local abandoned building, where film crew were spotted last year, filming 28 years later. Making it a zombie hotspot and a perfect
starting point for a zombie walk!
It's time to get creative and find new ways to spread the message...
It's time to bring in the zombies

The benefits to taking part as a volunteer

Being outdoors has been proven to be beneficial to your mental health by releasing endorphines - the feel good hormone.
Its a great way to spend quality time together as a family.
You will be helping to protect our local areas for generations to come.
All we ask is that children are supervised and that sturdy footwear is worn.

Thank you for your ongoing support! Together, we can make a difference!
Spreading the word, whether information, leaving a review, sharing/liking/commenting on our
social media posts, is important for raising awareness, promoting understanding, and building a connection to the local community.
Interaction is by far the most productive method of marketing and as a Community Group the more people we can reach the more support we get from local companies and volunteers.
It take seconds to like and share our posts, costs nothing but means the absolute world to us.
Are you a marketing master, a social media influencer, a budding video director, a fundraising fanatic, a whizz with paperwork or just someone with a genuine passion for Conservation?
Do you have some time to get involved with our team behind the scenes?
Do you want to want to join a friendly team of likeminded and friendly folks wanting to make a difference?
If the answer is YES, then we would really welcome you to get involved to help us make a real difference.
